Sweet, Sweet Sunshine!

Ugh! Are you as tired of these dark, overcast, dreary days as I am? Finally this morning it seems the sun is trying to peak through a bit. I hope it’s stopping by for a visit in your neighborhood as well. (Don’t forget to download a little bit of printable sunshine before you go!)

March - Organization set

In my last post I mentioned some new happenings around here and I wanted to share one of those with you today. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed creating and sharing home and craft projects with you here but, after more than a year, it’s time that WTD begins to support itself. If you follow very many blogs you know that there are lots of different ways to keep running and most of them tend to lean toward the advertising route. Don’t you hate looking for a tutorial on Pinterest only to find that you have to tip-toe around 8-10 ads just to get the gist of the post? Me Too! So, in an attempt to keep things humming right along I will be offering a monthly set of printables and companion clip art which can be purchased as a subscription or as a single purchase. And, instead of conventional advertising I will only be promoting products that I truly believe in through sponsored posts rather than sprinkling ads throughout the entire site.

For March, I’m offering a small sampler of monthly organization printables. This month includes a menu planner, a weekly to-do list, and a market list. The market list is set up to print 2 per page and fits nicely onto a 6×9 small clipboard.

The weekly to-do list prints 3 per page with little Miss Ladybug to keep a close eye on your daily errands!

And, don’t forget to sort out your meals for the month! This month’s collection is free for you to download and use as you’d like. Please remember all designs provided or sold through White Tulip Designs are for personal use only and may not be used for resale in any capacity.

As an added bonus you will also receive a collection of companion clip art that includes all of the details included in this month’s printable papers!

Download your FREE collection here! Once downloaded, right click on zip-file to “extract” the contents of the file. Then you can print the collection of printable from the PDF. The clip art files are high-res PNG’s with a transparent background.

Enjoy!

What’s Cookin’?

Whew! Things have been going in so many directions lately, I don’t even know where to start. That being said, I’m finally ready to start sharing over the next few weeks. Last week things came to a bit of a screeching halt when we were hit with a rounds of the flu. We haven’t had that happen since G was in elementary school (thankfully!) Putting it mildly, I was less-than-useless. However, I have been working on a freebie to share!

It was surprising how being out of the kitchen for a week really made me miss it. Hubbs has a birthday coming up soon and he’s really earned an extra special dinner. So, I’ve been scouring my cookbooks and cooking magazines looking for ideas. May I just say, have you seen the Southern Living 50th anniversary edition? If you cook anything, ever, you have to grab a copy. (I’m dying to give the Lane Cake a try!)

Cookbooks in the kitchen

I hope you’ve enjoyed my craft book reviews and that you’ve been able to find a few new favorites for yourself. Since I’ve been on a kitchen kick lately I thought I’d share some of my favorite, go-to cookbooks. (And a wishlist!)

To start with, no cook’s kitchen is complete without some sort of all-inclusive, textbook of cooking basics. For me, it’s my edition of “The Joy of Cooking”. Mine is over 20 years old and whenever I’m working on a new recipe or working out the kinks in someone else’s it’s my go-to for sure!

Favorites:

2- Can any cookbook shelf be complete without at least one Barefoot Contessa?

3- My little “Nancy Welch” was the first cookbook I had in my first little apartment. Similar cookbooks make a great housewarming gift.

4- My “Made From Scratch” cookbook has been really helpful with creating new recipes for my family! If you’re familiar with the kitchen “classroom” of America’s Test Kitchen you’ll really love this one!

5- I’ve loved watching Lorraine Pascal’s UK cooking show and I’m looking forward to working through her cookbook. Don’t let the fact that she’s an international supermodel fool you, this girl really knows how to make food enjoyable!

As for my wish list, I’m mainly hoping to expand my horizons a bit with homemade bread and more exotic cuisines. I’ve tried a few basic loaves so far and they’ve been so-so. If I keep plugging on I should have a nice loaf by next fall! (fingers crossed) I’m also on the look out for new ways to work with plain (read- boring) ingredients like chicken (yawn!)

Do you have any favorites that you can recommend? Whether they’re old fashioned classics or choc full of modern methods, I’d love to hear about them!

Getting Down & Dirty

Hopefully you’ve been enjoying the first weeks of the new year. Is it just me or does it seem like, for the first few weeks of January, everyone you know is either organizing like maniac or exercising like a wild woman? One day I’ll probably give the later a try but for the foreseeable future, I’ll be sticking with the organizing camp. To be quite honest, most of what I’ve been working on are tedious projects and loads or cleaning out but I do have a few I’ll be sharing here.

For the month of January, I’m working on kitchen projects, big and small, as much as possible. Today I’m sharing a quick project that will hopefully help you as much as it’s helped me. Living in the house with a teenager, even the most well-meaning can be a bit like herding cats. And, even the most mundane of tasks (like loading or cleaning out the dishwasher) can become way worse than it should. So, in an effort to make it clear whether the dishwasher needs loading or unloading I created this little dishwasher printable to clear things up a bit!

Dishwasher 1

You can either use a printable magnet sheet or print onto a sheet of sticker paper and stick it to a magnet you already have. I used a printable magnetic sheet (see similar here). Mine were left over from a previous project and I don’t quite remember where they came from.

Dishwasher 2

The sheet prints as a whole that can be used as a solid piece and just flipped upside down when you need to change the sign. Or, you can cut them apart and use them individually (like I did!)

Dishwasher 3

In the grand scheme of DIY projects, I realize it’s not that sexy but based on the eye rolls shot my way when I unveiled my masterpiece I’m pretty sure the message has been received.

Holiday Tour! Instagram Style

Hello friends! What are your plans for this weekend? I’m heading to a local craft show and working on some holiday projects. Mainly, I’m trying to resist the urge to bake something that I really don’t need to have around the house. What is it with all of the adorable baking shows this time of year? I normally have fantastic will power but from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day it, apparently, goes on vacation.

Any-whoo . . . . let’s talk about something a little less fattening. How about some holiday home tours to give you some Christmas inspiration? There have been amazing homes all over Instagram lately. I thought I’d share some of my favorites! (links to corresponding Instagram feeds are below.)
